Welcome to the 2018 Prospect Spring Fair

It’s Almost Here – the Prospect Spring Fair at Broadview Oval

The highly anticipated Prospect Spring Fair will be at Broadview Oval 9am to 3pm on Saturday 27 October.

After moving the event from St Helen’s Park and attracting over 6,000 people last year, the Spring Fair is set to entertain, delight and bewilder the local community again this year (including the family dog!).

The event will showcase a range of live music, free activities, animal rides, come and try, cooking demonstrations, art exhibitions, roving performers, market stalls, amusement rides, arts and crafts, food trucks, pop-up bars, kid’s story tent, car boot sale and so much more.

Five minutes from the city and plenty of parking PLUS entry is free!

Check out the Facebook event for the latest info!

Tread Lightly

Our theme this year is ‘Tread Lightly’ to celebrate all things zero waste, plastic free and reducing waste in the home. Come along to find out how you can make changes to your everyday life and why plastic-free is the best way to be.

Your Spring Fair Experience

Start your day by stopping at the Harris Real Estate stall to do the Harris Trail, which is just like the Yellow Brick Road at the Royal Show (but a bit smaller). Collect your bag, a piece of fruit, a book and a cool pen all before you start your journey collecting items from various stalls.

Want more of a challenge? Head to the Rotary Club stall to try the Rotary Discovery Quiz! Make your way around the Spring Fair by answering questions and learning something new along the way. Winners will help select a local primary school to win a Buddy Bench, which helps kids make new friends.

A celebration of music and dance

The Spring Fair celebrates music and dance from all corners of the community. Main stage will feature live music throughout the day with country, folk, indie-rock, afro-beat, acoustic blends and blues to name a few, while the community stage will be bustling with dance, fitness, cheerleading and local community bands. Bring your chairs and picnic rugs, set up, relax and enjoy the rhythmic beats and dance sensations that make our community so great.

Non-stop fun for everyone

Enjoy classic Fair favourites including a merry-go-round, pony rides, hot donuts, fairy floss, stilt walkers, juggling and face painting. There’s the unique entertainment of Flyball (dogs of all breeds compete to race for the ball and are time-trialled), a brand new cooking demonstration (with free tasting samples!), an inflatable kid’s story tent called Nylon Zoo and cupcake decorating stalls. We’ll have a petting zoo for the animal lovers and the ever popular Dig-a-Dino for all budding palaeontologists.

If you’re seeking things a bit more adventurous, be sure to jump on board the Whacky Shack, SuperSlide and Hurricane amusement rides, or head to the sports zone which has come and try activities throughout the day.

Feeling peckish

Yummy treats will be scattered throughout the Fair. Enjoy great Indian, Chinese and Italian food, and for something a bit different be sure to try Hubba Hubba Hummus or the Bubble Bus for some refreshing Bubble Tea. When the sun comes out enjoy slushies, pistachio ice-cream, gelato and your favourite Boost Juice varieties.

We’ve expanded our boutique drinks offering this year and you’ll be able to enjoy a range of wine, cider and brewed beverages from five great licenced sites. Grab a beer and a platter for two from Brewboys, a cocktail from the VW Bar or maybe you’re after a good ol’ cold one from the Broadview Football Club Can Bar under the veranda.

We love our furry friends!

As animal lovers ourselves, the Spring Fair is welcoming spot to bring your beloved dog! We’ll also be showcasing stalls with health advice, $10 microchipping, pet accessories, delicious treats and of course animal charities and community organisations.

Don’t miss the famous display of Flyball – a unique sport that gives a dog everything they love including retrieving, catching, jumping and highlights the connection between our community and dogs!

Wander the Marketplace…

With the largest number of stalls ever seen at the Spring Fair, you can enjoy over 101 stalls by creators and makers, designers, community groups, local businesses and start-ups! We’ll have handmade products created by many of our stunning local designers and artists. Get in early on your Christmas shopping and browse the many market-style stalls around the Oval. Some of the artists will be doing demonstrations and even letting you have a go at making something to keep. Ever wanted to throw your own pot or make a badge, well now you can so get involved.

Scattered throughout will also be an array of environmental stalls with eco-friendly products and sustainable practices, helping us all tread lightly in our daily lives.

Health and Happiness

Whilst you’re out and about chat to a dietician, take a hearing test or say hi to a physio. Learn more about the benefits of essential oils, candles, beauty and skincare products as well as eating well. The Health and Wellbeing area groups all the stalls promoting happiness so be sure to pay them a visit.

From the community stage there will be dance and exercise classes to join, and you can sign up to make them a regular part of your week. Why not try a new sport in the Sports Zone – loads of fun for adults and kids alike!
