COVID-19 update

City of Prospect has taken a number of important and proactive steps to protect our community and staff as we face this unprecedented situation of the global COVID-19 Coronavirus pandemic and the nationwide Public Health Emergency.

We need to take all reasonable steps available to protect our community, our Elected Members, our staff and volunteers (and their families) against the spread of this infection while ensuring we deliver services as close to ‘business as usual’ as possible.

Social Programs

Prospect Community Support offers opportunities to socialise in a friendly, inclusive and welcoming atmosphere through our Social Programs for eligible residents. Programs do require a contribution from participants and are subject to availability, eligibility, and priority of services. Social Programs are available to all eligible residents of City of Prospect or Town of Walkerville who are registered with My Aged Care and have a referral for Social Programs.

Some programs offer door-to-door transport utilising the Prospect Community Transport buses.

Programs do not operate on public holidays.

Uniting Communities exercise program

What is it?           

Gentle mobility and exercise classes run by qualified professional instructors from Uniting Communities. Chair-based exercises to assist with strength training.

When is it?     

Every Monday (except public holidays)

Walkerville Town Hall
66 Walkerville Terrace, Gilberton
11am and 12pm (45 minute sessions)

Payinthi (Prospect Town Hall)
128 Prospect Road, Prospect
9am, 10am and 11am (45 minute sessions)

$4 per session

Strength for Life exercise program

What is it?

The Strength for Life program promotes health and wellbeing for persons over 50 through strength-based training exercises.

When is it?

Every Monday and Friday (except Public Holidays)

Nailsworth Community Hall
31 D’Erlanger Avenue, Collinswood 
Mondays: 9:30am and 10:30am (60 minute sessions)
Fridays: 9:30am and 10:30am (60 minute sessions)

How much is it?    

$5 per session*

* Requires purchase of a 10x session card for $50 from City of Prospect Customer Service, 128 Prospect Road, Prospect. Initial (one-off) personal assessment at first session, requires $30 one-off charge payable to instructor at that session.

Friendship groups

Friendship Group

What is it?

This group enjoys a pleasant afternoon engaging in activities that include indoor bowls, card games, board games, and afternoon tea.

Transport available, wheelchair/gopher friendly.

When is it?

Every Tuesday 12:00noon to 3:00pm

$3 per session

Hotel Lunch Group

What is it?        

The Lunch Groups meet monthly on a Monday to enjoy lunch, travelling to different hotel restaurants throughout Adelaide for low cost al la carte or Senior’s meals. Transport included, wheelchair/gopher friendly.

When is it?       

Third and fourth Monday each month 11:00am to 2:00pm (except Public Holidays)

Where is it?         

Various hotels/locations around Adelaide

How much is it?  

Meals at client’s own expense (seniors menu), transport provided.

Shopping Experience

What is it?

Explore a range of shopping precincts around Adelaide for browsing and purchasing a variety of fresh produce, or just to enjoy the vibrant atmosphere and company.  Transport included, wheelchair/gopher friendly.

When is it?

Fourth Tuesday of the month 11:30am to 3:00pm

Burnside Shopping Village
Golden Grove Shopping Centre
Churchill Road Shopping Precinct

How much is it?

$3 bus donation – shopping/purchases at own expense.

Men's Shed

What is it?

The Men’s Shed meets weekly on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, having morning tea and lunch while working on various woodwork projects. Wheelchair/gopher friendly.

When is it?

Every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday
10:00am to 2:00pm

Community Lunch

What is it?

A friendly, social lunch on the first Thursday of each month that includes a three course meal and live entertainment. Transport available, wheelchair/gopher friendly.
