Treebate
Over 67% of land in City of Prospect is owned by private landholders, which makes the city-wide green canopy reliant on our community to plant trees on their own land and help create a cooler, greener and happier city.
To support our community and increase our tree canopy, we've brought back Treebate, our tree rebate scheme, for a second year. Treebate provides an opportunity for property owners (and tenants) to receive a rebate on the purchase and planting of trees to enhance the greening of our city.
Buy and plant a tree on your property and we will rebate you 50% of the purchase price of a tree up to a maximum of $100 per tree (for up to three trees).
Eligibility
To be eligible, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- The property must be located within City of Prospect
- Property owners and tenants can apply for the rebate
- Tenants must provide approval in writing from the property owner and applications for strata title properties must include written proof of support for the application by the body corporate
- Trees must be planted in the ground on private property within City of Prospect. You are not permitted to plant the tree on the Council verge/nature strip.

FAQ’s
Yes, the tree(s) must be purchased and paid in full during the eligibility period of 1 April 2026 to 30 June 2026.
Applications must be submitted no later than 5pm on Tuesday 30 June 2026. Applications received after this time are ineligible and will not be considered.
You may apply for a rebate for up to three (3) trees per property.
You can purchase your tree from any commercial nursery or retailer, or landscape supplier. Just make sure you can get a receipt showing the details of the purchase.
(Purchases made privately such as through the classifieds, on marketplace or gumtree are not eligible for a rebate in this scheme).

We encourage you to refer to Plan SA's Adelaide Garden Guide for New Homes which lists the top 10 most appropriate small, medium and large tree options that can be planted in a small home garden.
Rebates will be paid at the end of each month – please allow up to five weeks for your money to be received into your bank account. If you have not received the payment by this time, please contact us on 8269 5355 or admin@prospect.sa.gov.au.
