TreeBate

Over 67% of land in City of Prospect is owned by private landholders, which makes the city-wide green canopy reliant on our community to plant trees on their own land and help create a cooler, greener and happier city.

We are about to launch a Tree Rebate (TreeBate) Scheme to provide an opportunity for property owners (and tenants) to receive a rebate on the purchase and planting of Trees to enhance the greening of our city.

Buy and plant a tree on your property and we will rebate you 50% of the purchase price of a tree up to a maximum of $50 per tree (for up to three trees).

Eligibility

To be eligible, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • The property must be located within City of Prospect
  • Property owners and tenants can apply for the rebate
  • Tenants must provide approval in writing from the property owner and applications for strata title properties must include written proof of support for the application by the body corporate
  • Trees must be planted in the ground on private property within City of Prospect. You are not permitted to plant the tree on the Council verge/nature strip.

To check all of the eligibility criteria, download the Treebate Guidelines here:

How to apply

3. Complete the Treebate application form (below) and upload your three photos (per tree).

If we have any questions about your tree rebate application, we will be in touch.

Once we’ve approved your application,  we’ll transfer the money into your bank account. Please allow up to four weeks for your money to be received into your bank account.

* If you are not the property owner (tenant, renter), by applying for a tree rebate you confirm you have sought and received permission from the property owner to plant trees and apply for the rebate. You must provide evidence of this permission in writing and also upload this in your application for the Treebate.
