Illegal Dumping

Any items deliberately placed on a road or public place without Council’s authorisation or permission are considered to have been dumped illegally. Council offers many waste management services, eliminating the need for illegal dumping of goods, materials, earth, stone, gravel or any other substance, anywhere except where designated by Council.

To report illegal dumping to Council:

In instances of illegal dumping, Council may investigate to see if offenders can be identified. If they are, the Local Government Act of 1999 is used to prosecute offenders. If you have any information about people who involved in illegal dumping please contact us.

To have illegal dumping removed

Dumping that consists of hazardous materials or is presenting a safety risk will be removed as soon as possible after being reported. Other illegal dumping is generally removed within six days.

What about waste I have that won’t or shouldn’t go in my bins?

If you have unwanted items that don’t fit the criteria for disposal in your red, yellow, or green lidded bins, you have three free hard waste collections per year where you can put these items out for collection. This service is provided by Council to all residents of Prospect to assist them with appropriate disposal of larger domestic waste.

If you’d like to book in one of your free hard waste collections, you can phone East Waste on (08) 8347 5111.
