2024 Prospect Library Reading Challenge
Have you been missing reading? Looking to reconnect with a hobby, or broaden your literary horizons?
Join us for the 2024 Prospect Library Reading Challenge to receive monthly prompts and challenges! There is a hard-copy (paper) form with all of the details and monthly prompts available for collection at the Library, or you can download a pdf copy below.
At the end of the year, submit your reading log to be placed into a draw for 1 of 3 $50 book vouchers, to kickstart another year of reading love!

Prompts for 1st Quarter
- Read the first book in a series
- Get a reader recommendation from your library
- Re-read a childhood favourite
- Read outdoors or on holidays
- Read a retelling of a classic book
- Donate a book to your local little free library
Prompts for 2nd Quarter
- Read a non-fiction book
- Recommend a book to a friend or family member
- Read a book by a debut author
- Join a book club
- Read a book by a LGBTI+ author
- Post a review about a book you’ve enjoyed
Prompts for 3rd Quarter
- Read a book by an Aboriginal author
- Watch a movie or series starring an Aboriginal actor
- Read a cosy mystery
- Play a board game or tabletop role playing game
- Read a romance book
- Attend a library program or event
Prompts for 4th Quarter
- Read a book of poetry or a novel-in-verse
- Attend a poetry reading
- Read a translated book
- Learn a greeting in another language
- Read a sci-fi book
- Get your entries back to the library
What are the rules?
- This is a challenge for adults and teens. Younger children are encouraged to participate in the Summer Reading Club
- Completing the Prospect Library Reading Challenge and returning your responses will enter you into the draw for 1 of 3 $50 Dymocks vouchers
- All formats of reading are valid - audiobooks, eBooks, physical books, large print, graphic novels etc.
- You must complete at least one reading prompt and one activity prompt from each quarter of the year/colour block on the form
- You must record the books you read and actions you took for each part of the year in the space provided
- You don’t have to do the challenges in order - you can complete a prompt from any month at any time
- All entries must be returned to Prospect Library by 12th December 2024.
