Uniting SA Development - Gurr Street

2A – 8 Gurr Street, Prospect

Project background

Council have been working proactively with the contractor and their project team to minimise the impact on the community and to ensure safe continued access to surrounding throughout various stages of construction, to the extent this is possible via a Construction Traffic Management Plan for the site. Specifically, this relates to the extent of occupation of the road reserve, management of deliveries and access as well as management of parking demands from the site workers with onsite and offsite parking being provided for subcontractors.

Council has now received an application from the contractor Centina for a permit to occupy the road reserve on Gurr Street and Devonport Terrace to enable construction of the building safely and to implement staged road occupation and traffic control to support safe site access and loading and continued operation of both streets. This will result in footpath closure in front of the site with detours and implementation of temporary traffic management. Residents’ access will be maintained throughout construction, and notification will be provided at each stage via the contractor.

The full Construction Traffic Management Plan can be viewed here.

Proposed footpath and verge occupation - July 2023 to September 2024

  • Contractor proposes a level of footpath and verge occupancy for the duration of the project resulting in a footpath closure in front of the site for safety reasons and to place site offices within the verge.
  • Due to irrigation and rain garden planting in the verge opposite the site, limited road width and limited footpath network connectivity in the vicinity Council proposes a pedestrian management plan be implemented rather than a detour.

Proposed Permit Parking and No Stopping Controls - July 2023 to September 2024

  • On days when large deliveries are required to the site parking will need to be removed for delivery vehicle turning circles to be achieved. To limit impact on parking availability on surrounding streets from trades, it is proposed to implement permit parking controls on Devonport Terrace and Gurr Street (as indicated on the site plan) which will be managed by the site as required by the delivery schedule. This restriction will apply within site operating hours - Monday to Saturday, 7am to 5pm.
