Council Elections

Anyone who is enrolled as an Elector can nominate for a position on Council, regardless of qualifications, religion, gender or employment. Becoming an Elected Member is the most direct way to make a positive contribution to the area in which you live or work. Diversity is an important factor in Council's ability to represent all sections of the community. As an Elected Member you would directly influence and contribute to the future of the City. For more information about becoming an Elected Member download a copy of So You Want To Be On Council.

The timetable for the supplementary election has been set by the Electoral Commission of South Australia.  To view the timetable click here. The rules for elections are set out in the Local Government (Elections) Act 1999 - an Act of the South Australian Parliament. To view the Act click here.

The next scheduled Council general election will be in 2014.
