Undergrounding of Power Lines

Undergrounding of power lines on Hampstead Road will commence between North East Road and McInnes Avenue, Broadview in late May 2018.

What works will occur?

•    Undergrounding of overhead power lines
•    New street lighting poles
•    Removal of old power poles and wires

The removal of old concrete power poles will result in improved road safety, as well as a significant visual improvement to the area.

Who is undertaking the works?

The works are being funded and carried-out as a joint partnership project by City of Prospect, the State government and South Australia Power Networks (SAPN). There will also be a range of other related service provider’s such as Telstra, NBN Co and Foxtel assisting with works for this project.

When will work take place?

Undergrounding of power lines and new street lighting works are anticipated to start toward the end of May 2018 and will be completed by the end of 2018.

During the works traffic management procedures will be in-place to ensure a safe environment for all. Work zones will be made safe at the completion of each day’s activities. Vehicle access to properties will be maintained wherever possible.
 
Expected disruption to daily activities

•    Traffic and speed changes on Hampstead Road restrictions
•    Minimal restriction to footpath access
•    Possible temporary closure of side streets accessed from Hampstead Road
•    Construction  vehicle movements
•    Excavation works and saw cutting
•    Overhead works
•    Temporary on-street parking restrictions in vicinity of the works

What if I live or work on Hampstead Road?

Properties will be advised of any proposed disruption directly related to your property prior to relevant works commencing.
To enable connection of properties to the new underground system, SA Power Networks will notify residents of any proposed power outages ahead of time, in accordance with relevant notification procedures.
