Undergrounding of Powerlines

OVERVIEW
During July 2016 Stage 4 of the Prospect Road Urban Improvement Works will commence along Prospect Road, between Gordon Road and Regency Road.

WHO IS UNDERTAKING THE WORKS?
The works are being funded and carried-out by City of Prospect Council, the State government, and South Australia Power Networks (SAPN). There will also be a range of other related service provider’s such as Telstra, NBN Co and Foxtel assisting with works for this project.

WHAT WORKS WILL OCCUR?
• Undergrounding of overhead power lines
• New street lighting poles
• Removal of existing power poles and wires
• Upgrade of footpaths and general landscaping works (to
follow)
Removal of power poles will also result in improved road safety, as well as a significant visual improvement to the area, continuing the standard set by the previous Prospect Road upgrade works from Olive Street to Gordon Road.

WHEN WILL WORK TAKE PLACE?
Undergrounding of power lines and new street lighting works are anticipated to start toward the end of July 2016
and should be completed by early March 2017. Council footpath upgrades will take-place once the undergrounding works are fully completed, ensuring the undergrounding works will not damage the new pavements.

WHAT MIGHT I NOTICE?
During the works traffic management procedures will be inplace to ensure a safe environment for all. Work zones will be made safe at the completion of each day’s activities.
You might notice the following activity:
• Some Prospect Road restrictions, including temporary speed limit reductions
• Restrictions on footpath access
• Safety barriers around the work zone
• Temporary closure of side streets accessed from Prospect Road
• Construction vehicle movements
• Excavation works and saw cutting
• Overhead works
• Some on-street parking restrictions in the vicinity of the works

WHAT IF I LIVE OR WORK ALONG PROSPECT ROAD?
During the works, it will be necessary to disrupt the road and footpaths adjacent certain properties. Occupants of each property will be advised of any proposed disruption prior to relevant works commencing. To enable connection of properties to the new underground system, SA Power Networks will notify property occupants of any proposed power outages ahead of time, in accordance with standard notification procedures.
