Wellbeing Month Access Places

Recognising when we might need support and encouraging people to reach out are important conversations, but encouraging people to seek support is only part of the picture.

For many people, the barrier isn't knowing that support could help. It is being able to access it. Cost can mean delaying psychological care, spacing appointments further apart than would be clinically helpful, or not seeking support at all.

Throughout October, Self Care Collective are reducing this barrier in a practical way, with a limited number of reduced-fee psychology places:

  • $150 per individual psychology session for up to six sessions (usual psychology fee: $250 per session, a reduction of up to $600 across six appointments)

Clients may also obtain a Mental Health Treatment Plan from their GP and, where eligible, claim the applicable Medicare rebate. Alternatively, eligible clients may be able to claim through their private health insurance, further reducing their out-of-pocket cost.

The initiative isn't intended to suggest that six sessions are a quick fix or that this will be the right length of treatment for everyone. Rather, it is an opportunity to make evidence-based psychological care more financially accessible and give people a supported way to begin.

When is it?
