Phase 3 consultation opens for Prospect Lifestyle Precinct's next steps
Council is inviting the community to provide feedback on a pivotal next step for the Prospect Lifestyle Precinct.
With Phase 3 consultation now open, residents and the broader community can have their say on two key statutory processes that will help secure the precinct's future: the proposed revocation of some sections of community land and a new, site-specific Community Land Management Plan.
Mayor of City of Prospect Matt Larwood said this phase of consultation marks a crucial moment for the precinct.
“We know that changing the classification of community land is a sensitive issue, and we take it very seriously,” said Mayor Larwood.
“This process isn’t about losing a community asset; it's a vital step on our roadmap to secure its future, increasing community spaces and improving our public realm.”
The Prospect Lifestyle Precinct Masterplan, endorsed in June 2025, provides a clear vision for the precinct's future, featuring new community and recreation facilities for the Prospect RSL, Prospect District Cricket Club, and the North Adelaide Croquet Club.
Revoking the community land status for these specific parcels is the next step in progressing the adopted masterplan, which was created following two extensive phases of community consultation throughout 2024 and 2025.
This process will 'unlock' these sites, allowing Council to give effect to the masterplan vision, support new and renewed community assets, increase open green space and reduce the reliance on residential rates.
The proposed land revocation applies to three key parcels: the eastern wing of Prospect Oval, the south-east quadrant, and Council-owned land at 142-148 Main North Road, highlighted in blue on the aerial map below.
Mayor Larwood reiterated Council’s desire to hear from the broader community.
“We've listened to the community throughout this journey, and this next phase is a critical step,” Mayor Larwood said.
“We’re encouraging everyone, from long-time residents and local families to businesses and sports clubs, to have their say in this phase of consultation.”
Phase 3 consultation closes at 11:59pm on Tuesday 4 November.
All community feedback regarding the proposed community land revocation will be considered by Council and provided to the Minister for Local Government, who will make the final decision on whether the classification is revoked.
Feedback will also help inform how the remainder of the community land within the precinct is managed through the new site-specific Community Land Management Plan.
How to have your say
There are several ways to share your thoughts, including an online survey and written submissions. In-person community information drop-in sessions are also being held throughout the consultation period.
