Phase 2 consultation opens for Prospect Lifestyle Precinct master planning options

Published 14th February 2025

Council is pleased to announce the launch of Phase 2 consultation for the Prospect Lifestyle Precinct Masterplan.

Following community consultation, technical investigations, feasibility studies, and advisory group input, four master planning options have been developed to guide the transformation of Prospect Oval and its surrounds.

Mayor of City of Prospect, Matt Larwood, expressed Council’s excitement to unveil the four master planning options to the community.

“These master planning options offer a balanced and realistic approach to transforming Prospect Oval into a vibrant community destination,” he said.

“Each option offers a unique future for the precinct, all of which respond to the community feedback we received during Phase 1 consultation.”

“We heard loud and clear that residents want more green space, improved facilities for sports and recreation, and high-quality mixed-used development opportunities."

The four master planning options also consider a range of important factors, including promoting informal physical activity, supporting female participation in sport, ensuring universal design and accessibility, and managing traffic and parking.

"Rather than choosing one single plan, we're taking a more flexible approach," explained Mayor Larwood.

"Think of these options as a 'menu' of possibilities. We're encouraging our community to tell us which elements they like best from each option, so we can create a customised masterplan that reflects the unique character of our community."

Mayor Larwood reiterated Council’s commitment to transparency whilst undertaking the master planning process.

"We believe the best outcomes are achieved when the community is involved every step of the way," he said.

"We encourage everyone to take a look at the four options, share their thoughts, and help us shape the future of this important community asset."

Phase 2 consultation for the Prospect Lifestyle Precinct Masterplan is open until March 28. Feedback provided will be used to create a preferred masterplan option.

There are several ways to share your thoughts, including via interactive maps of the four master planning options, quick polls and written submissions.

In-person information sessions and pop-up events are also being held throughout the consultation period, including at upcoming Twilight Sessions, the Blackfriars Autumn Fair, and SACA cricket games at Prospect Oval.
