YouthFM is a joint initiative of Cities of BurnsideCampbelltownNorwood Payneham & St Peters, Prospect and Walkerville in collaboration with Three D Radio.

YouthFM provides local young people with the unique opportunity to access training and skill development in radio production.

YouthFM aims to:

• give local young people a voice
• promote youth events, activities and services
• raise awareness and consult on issues that impact on young people
• showcase the talents of local young people
• give air-time to young and local musicians
• provide training, development and career pathways in radio production

The YouthFM radio show is aired weekly, Thursdays 4-5pm on Three D Radio, 93.7fm. The show is produced by young people for young people.

Tune in every week for interviews, live sets, features, information, gig guides and much more.

You can even request a song on the request line. Text the song you want to hear to 0438 261 528 during the show.

How to get involved?

Young people wanting to become a presenter on YouthFM participate in the Radio Production and Induction Training, which is offered twice a year, at no cost, during the April and September school holidays. Participants must be aged between 15 and 25.

Why Join YouthFM?

YouthFM provides an excellent opportunity for young people to develop and demonstrate transferable skills that increase their employability. Skill development occurs in public speaking, written communication, verbal communication, research, team work, time management, leadership and building independence. Many presenters report increased confidence, social networks and clarity in future direction through their involvement with the program.

YouthFM may also act as a stepping stone to other leisure or career pursuits in the radio and media industries, and presenters will receive information about how to take the next step where applicable. In addition, a graduation ceremony is held each year to celebrate presenters skills and achievements and present awards for ‘Show of the Year’ and ‘Feature of the Year’. The celebration also serves to welcome newly trained presenters and farewell presenters who are exiting the program.
