Public Consultation
Your views are important to us!
We are interested in hearing from our community about our projects and initiatives. Under the Local Government Act 1999, we are bound to consult with the community on various proposals. In other cases, the legislation does not set specific requirements, but we have developed a customised consultation program in line with our Community Engagement and Consultation Policy.
Engagement Hub
City of Prospect is committed to meaningful conversations with our community. We have established the Engagement Hub platform for you to keep informed and up to date with our current consultations. Have your say on significant matters impacting City of Prospect.
Current consultations
We list any open consultations below. If the list is empty, we currently have no consultations open for feedback.
Representative Buildings Review Code Amendment
In 2010 and 2012, Council conducted surveys to preserve our city's historical areas and places. These surveys identified 431 significant buildings in certain areas that were not included in the city's previous Development Plan.
After reviewing the State Government's Planning and Design Code, we found that five out of eleven historic areas in City of Prospect have no Representative Buildings listed at all.
Council is recommending for a total of 446 additional Representative Buildings to be recognised.
Community consultation opens Monday, 19 February and closes at midnight Sunday, 14 April 2024.
Other consultations
We are sometimes approached by State or Federal departments to assist in consulting with our local community on projects or initiatives that are relevant but not directly led by Council.
Consultations of this nature will be listed below. If the list is empty, there are no consultations currently open for feedback that we have been made aware of.
Local Government Participation and Elections Review
The Office of Local Government is conducting a state-wide consultation to give the community an opportunity to provide feedback on ideas and suggestions on how communities can better engage with their councils through a council term and, particularly, at election time.
Feedback on the Discussion Paper is open until Friday, 1 March 2024 (5pm).
