Council prepares and publishes our Annual Report by the end of each calendar year. The report connects our achievements with each of the four pillars of our Strategic Plan, while also reporting on matters in accordance with Schedule 4 of the Local Government Act 1999

City of Prospect's Strategic Plan is an opportunity for Council, with feedback from our community, to shape the direction we need to take over the next three years, and on into the future.
Council’s Strategic Plan to 2020 is a shared document between the Council body and our community, that acts as a guiding framework for all activities undertaken, and seeks to address challenges facing the city both present and future. Specifically, the Strategic Plan:

Message from the Mayor
City of Prospect has a proud history of community; however, our association with the South Australian landscape is a mere dot on our continent’s history. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have been the custodians of this land for more than 60,000 years, making them the oldest Indigenous culture in the world. It is with this knowledge that we recognise Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders as the first Australians with a unique place in our cultural history.
I see reconciliation as vital for all Australians in our search for identity and, on behalf of City of Prospect; I am genuinely committed to driving positive change. It is in the spirit of mutual respect, equality, and building genuine, positive relationships with lasting impact, that I present our 2018- 2020 Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan to you.
This plan embeds reconciliation across all City of Prospect business practices, and focuses on Kaurna people’s connection to the local area, strengthening our relationships, supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses, demonstrating respect, providing opportunities for cultural learning and career development and celebrating our shared successes.
We look forward to the time when the goals of our first Australians are shared goals. Ultimately, we look forward to deep and lasting reconciliation between Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islanders peoples and the broader community that leads to recognition of a shared history and a common future, intrinsically bound as one people, with one history - a remarkable story about a journey that has come so far and yet is always at the beginning.

Council’s Open Space Strategy was endorsed in May 2018. It outlines our direction for determining the planning, level of future expenditure, maintenance expectations, upgrades and implementation. The Strategy will improve our Parks/Reserves, implementing innovative techniques including sustainable practices to create and deliver broadened opportunities for open space. These opportunities will align with local demographics and cater for the needs of the community and for generations to come.
Park/Reserve and Playspace Upgrades
The Open Space Strategy categorises each of our Parks/Reserves as Short-Term (1-5 years), Medium-Term (6-10 years) and Long-Term (11-20 years) for a focus on major design work and upgrades.
We are in the process of auditing and establishing a timeline for our parks that are listed in the Short-Term (1-5 years) category in the Open Space Strategy. The timeline will determine the level of works for each of the nominated parks over the next 5 years.
We will seek the community’s feedback as the first step to any design work and upgrades.
Community consultation will be the first step as part of the planning and design stage, and in conjunction with other local data such as demographic information, each park/reserve will be upgraded accordingly.
Replacements of Open Space Assets
Minor upgrades and replacement of park assets will occur each year on an as-needs basis. We are developing our Asset Management Plan which will assist in a proactive approach to replacement of our Open Space assets.
Better Living Better Health is the inaugural Public Health and Wellbeing Plan for the Eastern Health Authority Constituent Councils – the Cities of Burnside, Campbelltown, Norwood Payneham & St Peters, Prospect and the Town of Walkerville.
Better Living Better Health is about addressing the many social, economic and environmental factors which influence how happy and healthy we are as individuals and as a community.
The strategies identified in the Plan build on the extensive work already being done by the constituent Councils which help to improve health and wellbeing, as well as building on the strong working relationships which exist between stakeholders across different sectors.
It is fitting that Local Government leads this process as so many of its functions affect liveability and state of health.
