A free three day song writing, arrangement and performance masterclass for young people.

City of Prospect is taking the proactive step of cancelling all non-essential gatherings of people in order to reduce the spread of the COVID-19 virus to keep the vulnerable members of our community safe. As such, regular Council programming and events have been suspended from 16 March 2020 for an undetermined period. We apologise for any inconvenience.

City of Prospect’s Club5082 is working in conjunction with Music SA and Headspace to offer Autumn Jams! A free three day song writing, arrangement and performance masterclass for young people aged 13 – 18 years at Prospect Town Hall from Tuesday 14 to Thursday 16 April.

The program is facilitated by members of Wolf & Cub, Cat Lucky and experienced Music SA personnel that will work with and mentor your teenager!

Participants will learn about the song writing process, common chord progressions, writing to a theme lyrically and sonically, choosing a feel, tempo, rhythm and developing a melody.

Participants will work together to form bands and write, hone and perform music on stage to family and friends at a showcase event on Thursday 16 April from 6.30pm – 8.30pm at Prospect Town Hall.

This is an exciting opportunity for young musicians to learn about different styles of contemporary music, to explore their own creativity, structured song writing methods and gain live performance experience on stage, under lights, plugged into a professional PA system with their sound mixed by a skilled sound technician.

Ethan Hubbard, past participant said “The Jams workshop has helped me improve not only my song-writing but my relationships with others. I feel it has developed my ability to play comfortably with others and in front of crowds, even though I have horrible stage fright. I recommend this program for any musician who wants a career in music!”

Alfie Rowson, said “The Jams program was a fantastic experience because I got to interact with other likeminded musicians of similar age. We got to write a song and then perform it in front of a crowd. The staff are very friendly and caring which made the experience even better”.

Registration: The program is open to young people that live, work or study in City of Prospect with intermediate musical instrumentation or vocal experience.
