Undergrounding of Powerlines

By mid-2019, Prospect Road from Regency Road to Angwin Avenue is scheduled to have its powerlines relocated underground. Once this is complete, Council will also undertake an upgrade an upgrade of kerbing, footpaths and landscaping works.  This will complement existing projects completed to both the north and south.

The powerline undergrounding project is know as PLEC, which is an acronym for Power Line Environment Committee. PLEC is in partnership with SA Power Networks and the Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure (DPTI). This partnership results in Council paying for just one third of the undergrounding costs.

The estimated expenditure for this project is $502,618. Funding from the Roads to Recovery Grant in 2017/2018 and Council's operating budget in 2018/2019 will be utilised for Council's contribution.

Undergrounding of powerlines through-out this area will enable Council to establish trees and implement streetscaping projects. The resulting improvement in appearance will be designed for the entire community to enjoy.
