COVID-19 update

City of Prospect has taken a number of important and proactive steps to protect our community and staff as we face this unprecedented situation of the global COVID-19 Coronavirus pandemic and the nationwide Public Health Emergency.

We need to take all reasonable steps available to protect our community, our Elected Members, our staff and volunteers (and their families) against the spread of this infection while ensuring we deliver services as close to ‘business as usual’ as possible.

Prospect Road Streetscape Upgrade

The final stage (Stage 5) of the Prospect Road Streetscape Upgrade is now complete, with the planting of 23 Jacaranda trees between Regency Road and Angwin Avenue. Civil works were completed and low vegetation planted last year, however it was decided to defer the planting of the street trees until the cooler months when there was moisture in the soil.

The Prospect Road transformation has (in total) taken over 25 years to complete and has resulted in a hugely successful outcome for the entire corridor between Council’s southern boundary of Fitzroy Terrace and the northern boundary of Angwin Avenue. The final stage included the undergrounding of power lines, installation of public street lights, improved east-west crossing with construction of two pedestrian refuges, accessible paved footpaths, improved inverts and crossovers (driveways) to eliminate vehicle scraping, vegetation and tree planting, new kerb ramps at all intersections and the extension of bike lanes.
