Community Groups

Community Groups in and around the Prospect Library

The Prospect Library is a vibrant and active environment for all residents of the Prospect Council area to enjoy. Contributing to this vibrancy are the various community groups who meet regularly at the Library. With a wide range of groups meeting there, you’ll find something for everyone.

Friends of the Library

Friends of the Prospect Library is a community organisation which helps support the library, its functions and services. Friends serve as a means of communication between the library and the community. They arrange fundraising activities, organise community cultural activities in the library, and give practical help to the library staff. You and any member of the community or an organisation interested in promoting the library can become a Friend of the Library. Membership is free and you can join the Friends by contacting the Prospect Library.

Knitty Gritty

If you like the sound of a social afternoon of knitting, feel free to join us on Fridays in the library between 1:30 and 3:30pm. Patterns, yarn and needles are supplied, but we welcome donations of yarn.

Scrabble

From 1:30pm every Tuesday, Scrabble in the library is a great place to meet new friends. We supply everything (boards, dictionaries, score cards, etc) and you don’t need to book.

Stitching Sisters

On the second Wednesday of each month, our community needlework group meets in the library between 10.30am and 12.30pm.

Local or Family History

If history is your thing, maybe you’d like to get involved with our Local History or Family History Groups. And we’re always looking for volunteers for a number of roles within the library, so why not join us in creating a fantastic local library experience for all? Click here for more information about volunteering.

If you would like more information on any of the programs mentioned here, please contact the Library on (08) 8342 8170.
