Funding and Grants

Council offers a range of grants throughout the year to eligible individuals, groups and organisations. The grants program encourages, develops and supports local community projects for the benefit of City of Prospect residents.

Community Support Fund

City of Prospect, through its Community Grants Program, provides the opportunity for locally based community groups to receive funding up to $5,000 to support their activities / programs that benefit the Prospect community in the following areas:

  • Small Equipment Purchases
  • Community Development Programs
  • Facilities Improvement
  • Small Events
  • Environment Grants

The 2019/2020 round of applications open 15 July 2019 and close 15 September 2019.

Organisations who submit an application for the 2019 / 2020 round will receive acknowledgement of our receipt of their application.  If you have submitted an application for this round and have not received acknowledgment or you require more information regarding your application please contact our Volunteer and Community Programs Coordinator on 8269 5355 or email admin@prospect.sa.gov.au.

Community Support Fund Guidelines and Application Form

Previous grant recipients include:

Music SA

School holiday workshops for local youth interested in contemporary music.  Twenty-five young people were given the opportunity to play and write music in a safe and pressure-free environment. Through the workshops, participants were taught the skills required to write songs, perform on-stage, along with recording pathways.  In partnership with Club5082 and Headspace or their own independent work, they continue to apply the skills. 

Connecting Up Inc

Funding was provided to purchase office chairs and computer monitors for their volunteers. These volunteers assist with the dataset for the Prospect area for the SACommunity online directory.

Cultural Festival and Event Grant

For eligible, locally based community groups and cultural organisations grants of up to $10,000 (ex GST) grants are available each financial year. These grants are designed to develop and deliver a public cultural festival or event for the benefit of our broad and diverse community.

Priority is given to cultural festivals or events that celebrate and raise awareness of our inclusive and tolerant community. Especially through dance, stories, music and food.

South Asian Multicultural Association of South Australia (SAMASA)

Held in April 2019 to create a broader understanding of South Asian communities by showcasing the heritage, food, dance and traditions of eight South Asian countries (Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka)

Public Art Grant

Small Temporary – Quick Response Public Art Grants are available to support the delivery of temporary public art projects that require a quick turn-around time and small financial contribution within City of Prospect boundaries. Grants of up to $1,000 are available to eligible artists and groups each financial year.

Applications can be submitted throughout the year and are available until funds are expended (per financial year).

Public Art Grant Guidelines and Application Form

Joan Boylan - Nuclear Fallout Ultra-safe Central Control Tent

Using mostly recycled materials, the project was a temporary installation with performance and community interaction to celebrate SALA and Prospect Council as a nuclear-free zone. The canvas paintings were installed in the rotunda where people were invited to dress in dust suits and be included in a series of photoshoots while musical performances and discussions were encouraged.

Heritage Grant Program

Owners of properties that are heritage listed and/or within the Historic (Conservation) Zone can apply for a Heritage Grant. Successful applicants can have 50% of the costs of conservation or restoration works (up to a maximum of $2,000 per property) refunded by Council.

Priority is given to

  • Recently designated Heritage Places
  • Buildings that make a prominent contribution to the streetscape
  • Buildings that have not previously received Grant funding
  • Projects which support the building’s significant heritage elements

The main assessment of applications will occur in October each year.

Applications can be submitted throughout the year from 1 July 2019 to 30 June 2020, or until funds are expended.

Heritage Grant Program Application Form

Previous grant recipients include conservation works involving

  • New roof
  • Salt damp and window sill brick repairs
  • Front fence/gates
  • Front verandah and repoint front façade
  • Front gable repairs
  • Painting and installing decorative ironwork to verandah and installing wooden window frames

There were 9 grant recipients in the last financial year with conservation works totalling $50,478.

Street Party Grants

Residents who would like to hold a street party can apply for a $750 Street Party Grant. These parties create an opportunity for eligible residents to close-off their street and get their community together to have fun, and promote community spirit.

Applications must be lodged a minimum of 8 weeks before the date of the proposed street party.

Applications can be submitted throughout the year and grants are available until funds are expended (per financial year).
