As a cost effective method to control weeds to a manageable level on public land including nature strips, roadsides and open space areas Council routinely carries out weed spraying of standard nature strips (compacted dolomite or loam).

Whilst nature strips are owned by Council, traditionally many have been maintained by residents themselves and where residents have elected to plant theirs out with either lawn or other vegetation, they then accept responsibility for ongoing maintenance.

When nature strips become overgrown Council liaises with residents to provide them with an opportunity to remediate otherwise we arrange to slash or prune back vegetation as required.

If you would like to plant your nature strip, download the application form under Related Resources.

For additional information and Frequently Asked Questions on Nature Strip please see our Nature Strip Fact Sheet under Related Resources.
