City of Prospect is committed to reducing waste to landfill and is pleased to announce its newest environmental initiative, a subsidised Electronic Waste (E-Waste) recycling program.
This program is aimed at encouraging you to recycle your unwanted electronic waste rather than sending these items to landfill.
E-Waste is one of the fastest growing waste streams in Australia. Historically E-waste has been sent to landfill, however there are many reasons why this practice is undesirable. E-waste contains valuable and rare materials such as gold and copper which can be recovered and reused. It also contains a range of hazardous materials that can be potentially damaging to the environment if not disposed of correctly.
City of Prospect in partnership with Zero Waste SA and E-Cycle Recovery now offers residents the opportunity to recycle their e-waste items at a subsidised cost. City of Prospect residents can now drop off their inactive, damaged, obsolete, or surplus electronic waste equipment for a third of the recycling cost, to E-Cycle Recovery premises at:
12-14 Baulderstone Road, Gepps Cross
Mon - Fri 7:30am to 2:30pm
Sat, Sun & Public Holidays -
Closed
As a resident of City of Prospect you will only be paying a third of the usual amount, which for a large television equates to $7 instead of $20 or $4 for a laptop instead of $12. Residents will be required to show identification that displays their address within City of Prospect. Business waste and commercial quantities will not be subsidised.
Please visit E-Cycle Recovery for a list of acceptable items, or to learn more about e-waste recycling and see happens to e-waste, visit Zero Waste.
