In-Home Support

How we can support you at home

With the aid of funding from the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP), Prospect Community Support provides entry-level home support services for eligible residents of City of Prospect and Town of Walkerville. If you would like help to live more independently at home and out in the community, to enhance your quality of life, or to continue to live safely in your home, Prospect Community Support might be able to help you achieve just that.

Practical assistance is available to residents in the form of the short-term and/or occasional (one-off/annual) services below.

Cleaning assistance

What is it?                

To assist you to remain independent in your own home, Prospect Community Support offers fortnightly ‘basic hygiene cleans’ on a short term basis (six or twelve fortnights). 

A basic hygiene clean typically involves sweeping/mopping/vacuuming floors throughout, and assistance with wet areas (laundry and bathroom). Assistance with linen changes might also be arranged.

When is it?               

Fortnightly at agreed day/time (client/worker to arrange) between 9:00am and 5:00pm Monday to Friday.

Where is it?             

In your home.

How much is it?      

$10 per hour, up to 2 hours per fortnight.

Garden assistance

What is it?                

To assist with keeping you independent in your own home, Prospect Community Support offers an ‘occasional/at-call’ garden tidy service.  Up to six hours per annum.

A garden tidy service typically involves slashing, pruning and/or trimming to assist you to keep your garden safe and free from slip/trip hazards and overhanging branches.  We are not able to provide lawn-mowing.

When is it?               

At-call, up to six hours per annum, between 9:00am and 5:00pm Monday to Friday

Where is it?             

In your home.

How much is it?      

$10 per hour – additional costs may apply for removal of green waste if required.

Annual gutter clean

What is it?                

To assist with essential maintenance of your home, Prospect Community Support offers annual gutter cleans.

Gutter cleaning may only be provided if you own the residence – we are not able to provide gutter cleans for rentals, lifestyle villages and/or Housing Trust properties.                                             

Workers are not able to remove gutter guards (if installed), and are not permitted on the roof due to Work Health Safety policies.  All gutters must be reachable with a standard (non-extension) ladder, and we are not able to clean ‘box gutters’.

Annual window clean

What is it?                

To assist with essential maintenance of your home, Prospect Community Support offers an annual ‘window clean’ service.

Our window cleans may be utilised to clean internal windows, external windows, or both internal and external windows (nominate at the time of booking your service).  Workers will remove any external screens (if able, and as required) to access windows

We can only provide window cleaning to ground floor windows

Handyman service

What is it?                

To assist with essential maintenance of your home, Prospect Community Support offers a handyman service. The handyman service provides low-level (minor) assistance with changing tap washers, changing light globes, changing smoke-detector batteries and small ‘odd-jobs’ around the home.

Some jobs may fall outside the scope of our service provision, and service availability may be limited by the skillset of workers available.

$10 per hour plus any material expenses incurred

Home modifications

What is it?                

Prospect Community Support engages Hi-Line Hardware Distributors to provide equipment and an installation service for grab rails, magnetic door catches and hand-held shower hoses.  We are able to offer subsidy and assistance with home modifications.

Any home modifications require an occupational therapist to attend your home and provide diagrammatic instruction as to how and where any home modifications are to be installed.

Some jobs may fall outside the scope of our service provision – in these instances we might refer you to another provider, or assist you to make arrangements with hi-line to have these works installed privately.

We do require that residents accessing these support services contribute towards the costs, which vary according to the service.
