Council is reviewing the Community Bus program. Two small buses are provided to assist our residents with a low-cost transport option.  Is this investment providing the best possible outcomes for our communities?

Objective of the Review

A full understanding of the social benefit, financial cost and community expectations of the Community Bus program will inform a decision by Council on the future of the program.

Current Activities

The program exists to provide convenient and low cost transport to those City of Prospect residents who, because of limited ambulatory abilities, have difficulty or are unable to utilise public or private transport; including elderly people, people with disabilities and those providing their direct care.

The program provides a door to door pick-up and return service.

  1. Prospect Library – transport to and from the Library, offered on the 2nd Thursday of each month.
  2. Door to Door Shopping – transport to and from North Park and Sefton Park Shopping Centre’s, offered each Tuesday and Friday.
  3. Day Tours – transport to and from popular destinations within greater Adelaide and Regional locations, offered on the second Monday of each month.
  4. Social Program Activities – transport to and from a wide range of community activities provided within local community Halls and other facilities.  Offered at various times throughout each week.

Community Bus - Seat Capacity (2 buses)

Not including driver or driver’s assistant.

  • Small Bus can carry nine passengers.
  • Large Bus has nine seats plus the capacity for a person to be seated in their wheelchair while travelling, ten passengers in total.
