Prospect Fair

Welcome to the 2017 City of Prospect Spring Fair at Broadview Oval!

Prospect’s annual Fair has a new location – Broadview Oval. On Saturday 28 October, after 39 successful years at St Helen’s Park, we’re moving to a bigger site!

Music acts, across a range of genres, will entertain the crowds. The James Hickey Duo will perform folk and blues, Hana Brenecki & Mark Curtis will appeal to aficionados of country while the Fiddle Chicks and Hope of Africa bring world music and reggae alive. You’ll also be treated to sessions of Bollywood dancing and tribal drumming.

There are games and activities for all ages, including giant versions of Jenga, Connect4 and Noughts & Crosses, and if you want to get a little sporty, Come and Try activities like soccer, women’s football and pentanque will be available to join in with. If sport’s not your thing but dancing is, there are opportunities to learn about and have a go at yoga, Zumba fitness, or even traditional Irish or Morris dancing.

In the marketplace you’ll find local crafts, jewelry designers, art workshops, bric-a-brac and gift shops, and you’re bound to score a bargain rummaging in pre-loved fashion stalls. There’s even a car boot sale for secondhand shoppers that kicks off early in the car park.

Fun for kids means sideshow amusements. Apart from the old favourites like the merry-go-round and jumping castle, there’s the Swing Chair, Wipeout, Wacky Shack, Super Slide and Laughing Clowns and for the littlies who love animals, try the pony and camel rides.

If that’s not enough to keep the little ones entertained, there’s the petting zoo, Dig-A-Dino, a Punch & Judy Show and the Amazing Drumming Monkeys, complete with roving magicians, balloon artists and jugglers - as well as face-painting and henna tattoo studios.

This year, City of Prospect is encouraging you to bring the family’s furry friend because dogs will be welcome if they are comfortable amongst people and are well behaved; there’s a $10 micro-chipping station for all our canines too.

And of course there will be a smorgasbord of tasty food and beverages to enjoy. With baked potatoes, pizza, pancakes, pastries, barbecue and Indian and Vietnamese cuisine, there will also be homemade cakes and Devonshire teas on offer. The VW Kombi bar will serve drinks from 11am on the concourse and the clubhouse is also licensed.

For the hobbyists and motor enthusiasts, there will be a display of classic cars, while local enterprises will have information booths where you can learn about working from home and setting up your own online business.

This year you’ll also be able to get a health check by having your hearing, vision or blood pressure tested at the Health and Wellbeing Centre on site, so pop in to feel good!

Come along, invite your friends, and see what treasures you might discover at the City of Prospect Spring Fair at Broadview Oval.

We look forward to seeing you at Broadview Oval on Saturday 28 October 2017 from 9am!
